Can we hear those whose voices are fading into silence amid ecological crisis and human aggression? NeoKin reimagines a fragmented ecosystem within a cut tree, once a thriving habitat, now disrupted (with human activity).
Once a living tree, a stump is (still) spreading its roots – hoping for a revival, offering a 'fragmented' Home (as a digital GIF) to both a living moss and non-living fossils of human activity. It is an evocation of lost habitats and disrupted ecosystems, symbolizing life’s persistence despite destruction. The tree, interwoven with e-waste, fossils, and growing plants, represents a speculative ecosystem where nature and culture become inseparable.
NeoKin challenges anthropocentric perspectives and redefines Home as a Shared, Evolving Space where Technology, Nature (including humans), and Land intersect in an ongoing negotiation of survival, adaptation, and resilience. Hopefully, we can learn how to regenerate and live within hybrid yet still self-regulating ecosystems.
